Gaelforce West, here we come !

A long logistical day today, with registration and bike drop off along with lots of traffic and distance to contend with. Compared to some of those travelling from all corners of the country I can’t complain with this one though. All in all I am feeling good, a little tired but good. I will be up at 3am to head for Westport and catch the bus to the start line.
All I want tomorrow is an improvement on 2013 race, and wherever I finish will be fair after that. The weather looks decent, my training has gone well so fingers crossed for a good day.
Pre race formguide featured on MSAI website today.
Try not to mix me up with the othe O’ Farrell featured in report!
To finish I am posting last years times and splits so hopefully this time tomorrow there will be a few minutes shaved off.

Mountain times and some Football to throw me off track.

I finally got the chance to upload some stats from my mountain run last week!

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/479748961

I had a marathon football session yesterday between a match and then a 5 a side tournament. All in all I am wrecked today and a good rest evening is needed. No better time to reflect on some tough challenges ahead!

Next aim is to get some biking in this week and then a 10km race on one of the Aran Islands at the weekend. We are getting some great weather in the West for a change so I hope to make the most of it around a busy work schedual.

The Big race is Saturday week. The WAR wicklow adventure race. 72km in total. Followed by Connemara Adventure Challenge race 2 weeks later to get the racing season underway! Links below..

Monday Spin out West

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/475648047

A long day at work today so I literally ran in door and back out again on the bike. It was a cold spin out the coast into a nice head wind but all in all a good session and feeling good considering match yesterday. I plan to climb Carrauntoohill, Ireland’s tallest mountain on Thursday. I am working the weeks training around this so a good gym session with a run along with soccer training tomorrow, and a  rest day Wednesday should set me up nicely !

West of Ireland

Orange alert: Coastal flood warning as 130km winds set to sweep country (via TheJournal.ie) http://www.thejournal.ie/storm-warning-ireland-winds-1282584-Jan2014/
This has been the ongoing story this winter in the West. There is no doubt it interferes with training and all sports. Wrap up well everyone and wait for the winds to pass before venturing out!
I’m just in from a few hours shooting with the dogs on the bog. Great exercise and fun for both me and the dogs!!  Weekends training will develop mostly depending on the weather!
